What is WHIPLASH?
During a car accident, your neck is subjected to a "whipping" motion. This movement happens faster than your muscles are able to react, which causes them to stretch beyond their usual limits. This causes injury to your joints, ligaments, muscles and even the spinal discs. Even low impact collisions can result in injuries, setting you up for wear and tear that can lead to premature arthritis in your spine.
What makes matters confusing is that whiplash symptoms are often mild to start with, but then they can get worse over several days, weeks or even months. You can be significantly injured and feel little to no pain right after the accident.

Emergency Room and primary doctor care is important, but DON'T STOP THERE.
It is important to rule out any life-threatening problems and make sure you don't have any broken bones or internal injuries.
However, since your most common symptom is likely to be pain, ER doctors and family MDs often prescribe pain medication or muscle relaxants. These drugs only cover up the symptoms. Your pain may be relieved, but the cause of the pain is still there. And, since you don't feel the pain, you may be inclined to do things that make your injuries worse (at work/play, etc).
If acute emergency or general medical care is the only care you received, you are missing out. Chiropractic care can REDUCE PAIN, SPEED HEALING and MINIMIZE THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS of your injuries. Right now is the time for you to take the FIRST STEP.
