>> Prevention & Rehabilitation Exercises
Enhance your chiropractic care with additional rehabilitation treatments. Therapeutic exercises and stretching compliment your subluxation correction procedures and speed up your body's healing process.
In Eastside Life Chiropractic's effort to prevent future conditions and promote health, Dr. Eric Hansen suggests specific strengthening exercises and stretches for patients with back, neck and other extremity problems. When prescribed along with spinal adjustments, these exercises can reduce pain, protect against new or recurring injuries, prevent muscle deterioration and promote strength, stability and range of motion. The equipment we use as well as some of the benefits of each are listed bellow.
Cervical Traction
- Reduces stress in the neck and aids in the prevention and healing of injuries.
- Assists in the healing of disc bulges and disc tears.
- Re-hydrates/re-inflates cervical discs and keeps them young and strong.
- Helps restore normal cervical "arc of life" and relieve tension on the spinal cord.
- Increase the function of the first 4 cervical vertebrae to re-stimulate endorphin production (chemicals which block painful stimuli).
PTLMS (Pettibon Tendon Ligament Muscle Stimulator)
- This is a high-intensity massage tool that helps to push the toxins out of tight, sore muscles, thus cleansing the body. This initiates the healing process and feels great at the same time.
Wobble Chair Exercises
- Reverses the aging process of the spine, improves the immune system, and boosts metabolism.
- Adds strength and flexibility to the discs and ligaments of the low back.
- Reduces stress in the low back and aids in the prevention and recuperation of injuries.
- Helps circulate CSF (fluid that nourishes the brain and spinal cord).
- Massages heart (via central tendon) and reduces chances of heart attack.
- Enhances oxygenation of blood and stimulates metabolism, which is necessary for the prevention of disease.
- Warms up the discs prior to the adjustment and prior to spinal molding at home to reshape the spine more easily.
Pettibon Body Weighting System This is the most powerful thing you can do to restore your posture and improve your health. Using the body weights is a form of reactive adjusting, meaning it causes your body to adjust itself and at the same time, strengthens your muscles to hold your adjustment longer.
Link Trainer Postural distortions are greatly affected by weak postural muscles. A highly effective method of correcting these problems is through specific isometric exercises with the link trainer. This machine helps strengthen postural muscles, giving our patients a healthier, more youthful body.
Dr. Eric Hansen will ensure you are performing your exercises and stretches correctly so that you can do them in the comfort of your own home. By keeping up with your rehabilitation and corrective exercises and stretches you can accelerate your healing process and prevent scar tissue from forming. Even after you heal, maintaining a regular exercise and stretch program encourages mobility, flexibility and protects you from new injuries.
