Sports and Chiropractic
"Sports-oriented" chiropractic involves providing the best spinal care that chiropractic has to offer and integrating it with a more complete assessment of the extremities and mechanics of the human body. Muscles attach to bones to move or stabilize joints. When treating the typical injury if you only address the joint issue or only work on the muscular aspects you will be missing part of the picture. We seek to gain a complete understanding of your injury, not only where it hurts but also where it originates, in order to truly resolve the problem.
Sports injuries can decrease performance by reducing strength, slowing reflexes, restricting ranges of motion and shortening endurance. Effective care can improve performance and give the athlete back that competitive edge that makes the difference. I work with athletes of all types from marathon runners and tri-athletes to mixed martial artists, football players and body builders. The one commonality between all athletes is that they demand results.
Individualized Rehabilitative Exercises
As part of our evaluation and treatment plan we will try to identify which exercises you can perform to take a pro-active part in your recovery. This may range from a few simple stretches to a comprehensive rehabilitation program. We try not to over-whelm our patients with dozens of different exercises just for the sake of exercise. Instead our focus is on a handful of exercises that will really make a difference.
Why Eastside Life Chiropractic
Dr Hansen has extensive neuromusculoskeletal training and experience that can be an exceptional resource to athletes for the treatment and prevention of sports injuries. Therapeutic exercise, soft tissue treatment, and nutritional support are part of patient care when appropriate. Sprains, strains, tendinitis, bursitis and joint problems in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, and foot can all be treated effectively with sports chiropractic care.
The great bonus of sports chiropractic is not only drug-free and surgery free care, but also preventative and performance enhancing care. Maintaining soft tissue movement and proper joint alignment will allow athletes to be prepared for their sport.
Many of the greatest athletes in the world are treated before competition to prepare their bodies for optimal performance. Following competition, they are treated to enhance the recuperative process after the stress of their particular event.
